Here we'll try our best to answer and keep up to date the most commonly asked questions about our business, products, events, etc.
These are organized by topic to make it a bit easier!
FAQs about the BIZ
1. Where are you located?
Currently, Eleventh Flour operates out of my home kitchen in Altamonte Springs, Florida. We operate as a cottage business which is a category of business that allows home bakers to operate on a smaller scale in the state of Florida.
2. What types of orders do you take?
We currently take macaron orders for events, such as parties and weddings, as well as private orders. However, as we prefer a minimum order of 2 dozen, we understand that doesn't leave a lot of room for folks who want to try our macs, and not spend a fortune. So we will be offering limited box sets throughout the year with different fun themes, shapes and flavors. These sets will range from 10-12 macarons, be priced between $30 and $40, will contain at least 4 or more unique flavors, and be so freaking cute you will not be able to resist.
3. How do I stay up to date on the boxed sets?
Instagram, Instagram, Instagram. We will be posting information on the boxed sets on the website, but your best bet to get timely information will be to follow us on Instagram!
4. Do you have a newsletter?
We are currently collecting recipient emails for our newsletter which we aspire to have enough interest in to begin sending out emails this summer. We will definitely be offering advanced sneak peeks and possibly some special deals through this form of communication, so make sure to sign up (at the bottom of our homepage!)
5. How do I order?
First, take a look at our pricing and details section, then go ahead to our contact form and shoot us an email with as many details about your order as you can. We will get back to you within 48 hours to discuss your order!
6. If I choose "pickup" -- where am I picking up from?
Currently, our home kitchen is located near Altamonte Springs. Once you choose "pickup" I will send you correspondence to discuss a pick up location, date and time convenient for both parties.
7. Do you take orders for desserts other than macarons?
To streamline the start of business, I've chosen to spotlight macarons as my core product. However, I always encourage customers to "shoot their shot" so to speak, when it comes to other types of orders. Occasionally, you'll see me post non macaron items. Just know that other orders take a back seat to the macarons right now, so it's subject to a few things: 1. Time, and 2. If I believe your request is in my wheelhouse. While I LOVE challenges, I will never agree or promise products to customers I'm not 100% confident I can deliver on, style wise, quality wise or due to a time constraint.
8. Do you ship macarons?
Unfortunately, operating as a cottage business in the state of Florida, we are not allowed to ship our products at this time. When the day comes that we can transition to working out of a commercial kitchen, we will be able to ship and service customers all around the country!
FAQs about Macarons
9. What is a macaron?
Wikipedia states: a macaron is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond meal, and food coloring. The confection is characterized by a smooth squared top, a ruffled circumference—referred to as the "crown" or "foot" (or "pied")—and a flat base. It is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth.
10. How do I store my macarons after purchase?
Macarons are delicate, so be gentle with them. They can sit on your counter for about 3 days, in the fridge for about 7 days, and in the freezer for up to 3 months. Always transfer them to an airtight container if not eating them right away, as the main reasoning for these time limits are that they are moisture sensitive and will begin to dry a bit.
11. Are macarons gluten free?
Macarons are made with almond flour and sugar so naturally, those elements do not contain gluten. However, some fillings may contain gluten ingredients. Always be sure to let us know if you are in need of a gluten free offering!
12. Do you make vegan or keto macarons?
Once upon a time I made vegan macarons. They are insanely more stressful to make than regular macarons, so at this point in the business, I am not offering vegan options. I hope to be able to offer these again once the business picks up more steam, and it makes more business sense to expand our offerings. As far as keto macarons, I have not attempted these but I encourage anyone looking for keto desserts to check out The Bulk Pantry in Winter Garden, FL.
